It was the most beautiful and enriching experience in my life, the best summer I ever had. It is a life-changing trip, where you meet amazing people in amazing surroundings.

Pride and appreciation for your culture is not something that can be taught, but has to be lived and experienced firsthand—which is exactly what BTR makes possible!

I had two of the best weeks of my life. I could not ask for more than being surrounded by beautiful people in a beautiful country. I never felt the passion of my heritage kindling in me as strongly before.

Back to Roots is a cause so valuable and so pure, that I am proud to serve it and give everything I have to it.

BTR also showed me parts of Lebanon I had no idea existed, so for that I will always be grateful.
BTR made Lebanon a tangible part of my family’s history rather than an obscure experience. BTR brought Lebanon alive for me… I hope to color Lebanon for people through a lens of culture, history, and natural beauty rather than confining it to security risks and political turmoil.
I didn’t have much of a relationship with Lebanon before, and arrived with no expectations. But I’m leaving here more informed and aware of what Lebanon is and how I fit in here.
Before I came, I just considered myself Canadian – but now that I have come back and reconnected with my family and culture here, I am now Lebanese as well.
BTR exceeded my expectations in every way and has made me more engaged with my home country than ever before. Prior to BTR, I had a distant relationship with my Lebanese heritage. The trip engaged me head on with the culture and I have never been more proud to be Lebanese. After talking with so many phenomenal Lebanese people, I will use their passion and resilience in whichever career I choose in order to make a better name for Lebanese-Americans.
